At the heart of the program was a student whose exposure to the aviation industry ignited a newfound passion for flight. Through this experience, the student developed a desire to pursue a career as a pilot, demonstrating the lasting impact that strategic partnerships and well executed programs can have on future talent. 

An Immersive Learning Experience

A key component of the Georgia State University Shadowing Program was providing the student with a firsthand look at the many functions that work together to support our business and customers. Throughout the program, the student had the opportunity to shadow and engage with teams across Delta Professional Services, gaining valuable insight into a variety of career paths and business operations.

The student spent time with:

This broad exposure provided the student with a unique perspective on how different teams collaborate to achieve a common objective while highlighting the many career opportunities available within the aviation industry.

A Structured Project Management Approach

Behind the scenes, the program was guided by a disciplined project management framework focused on planning, stakeholder engagement, communication, and risk management. Led by Delta Professional Services and supported by stakeholders across the organization, the project required careful coordination between internal teams and Georgia State University to create a meaningful and seamless learning experience.

Clear objectives, defined milestones, and regular governance reviews helped ensure the program remained on track while creating value for both organizations and the participating student.

Frequent collaboration across teams enabled the successful coordination of schedules, resources, and engagement activities, resulting in a seamless experience for the student and stakeholders alike.

The team leveraged the 4D Approach (Discovery, Design, Development, and Delivery) to guide the program from concept to completion. Through Discovery, stakeholder goals and expectations were identified. During Design and Development, the shadowing experience was structured, coordinated, and refined. Finally, Delivery brought the program to life, providing the student with meaningful exposure to multiple business functions and the aviation industry.
